SEASONING ON THE STOVETOP

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. To a clean and dry Smithey, apply a very thin layer of seasoning oil or a dime-sized amount of a high-smoke-point oil, covering the entire cooking surface.
  2. Place the lightly oiled pan over medium-high heat until it begins to smoke.
  3. Repeat this process with another thin layer of oil. Be careful—your pan will be hot. Turn off the heat, and you're done!
